Fidel Gerardo Sierra Aranda
Fidel leads Agon’s litigation practice. He specializes in antitrust, regulation, and constitutional and administrative law.
Before joining the firm, he served as General Counsel and then Technical Secretary of the Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece). He also worked for Minister José Ramón Cossío Díaz (ret.) at the Mexican Supreme Court of Justice.
As part of his achievements, Fidel designed a significant portion of the current economic competition rules and regulations, including the Regulatory Provisions of the Law, the rules on attorney-client privilege, and all Commission guidelines. As General Counsel, he oversaw the legal aspects of all proceedings before Cofece. As Technical Secretary, he organized the Plenum’s activities, and coordinated the processing and ruling of all cartel, monopolization and merger cases from 2017 to 2024.
He holds a law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana, a master’s degree in Civil and Family Law from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, and a master’s degree in Administrative and Regulatory Law from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
