Mr. Kovacic is Global Competition Professor of Law and Policy, Professor of Law and Director of the Competition Law Center at the George Wasington University Law School. He was a member of the U.S. Federal Trade Commision from 2006 to 2011 and chaired the agency in 2008 and 2009. He was previously the FTC’s Chief Counsel from 2001 to 2004.

Since 2013, he is Non-Executive Director with the United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority. Between 2009 and 2011, he was Vice-Chair for Outreach of the International Competition Network, which brings together 130 competition agencies throughout the world. He has advised many countries and international organizations on antitrust, consumer protection, government contracts and the design of regulatory institutions. He is co-editor of the Journal of Antitrust Enforcement.

He received his B.A. from Princeton University and holds a JD from Columbia University.
